What makes Apto different?
Traditional PT can certainly help to improve your physical symptoms, however, it often fails to address underlying contributing factors (e.g. systemic inflammation or limiting beliefs), which can perpetuate the pain cycle and inhibit you from reaching your goals.
At Apto Physical Therapy we take a thorough, truly integrative approach to address all aspects of your lifestyle, including nutrition, mindset and behavior patterns. This perspective ensures that you can truly optimize your health and function at your highest capacity.
What conditions do you treat?
We see patients for treatment of orthopedic and musculoskeletal diagnoses (e.g. neck, low back, hip, shoulder and knee pain). We also see patients with pelvic presentations, such as pelvic organ prolapse, urinary incontinence, urinary hesitancy, urinary frequency, bladder pain, pudendal neuralgia, pelvic pain, genital pain, constipation, fecal incontinence, abdominal pain, tailbone pain, pelvic girdle pain, hip pain, low back pain, hernias and diastasis recti. We also treat back/hip/neck pain associated with pregnancy or postpartum.
What should i expect on my first visit?
Your practitioner will start by taking a thorough history of your symptoms. Be prepared to answer questions about your general health and lifestyle (including sleep, nutrition and exercise) and your medical history. If you’re being seen for a pelvic presentation, your bladder and bowel habits, as well as your sexual health. Patients should be prepared to discuss how they’re symptoms are affecting their quality of life.
Next, your posture, general movement and strength will be assessed. Depending upon your presentation, your practitioner may perform some special tests to reproduce your symptoms. If indicated, your practitioner may wish to assess your pelvic floor muscle with an internal (vaginal or rectal) examination. Maintaining your modesty and comfort is of utmost importance to us at Apto Physical Therapy; we will ask your consent prior to all portions of the examination.
You and your practitioner will discuss all findings of the examination and will collaborate to develop a treatment plan to help you reach your goals.
Pelvic health initial evaluations are 75 minutes in order to allow for treatment time, so expect to receive some treatment during your first appointment.
What should I wear to my first appointment?
Wear something that is comfortable and will allow the freedom to move. We will be asking you to walk, squat and do a variety of functional movements within the PT clinic. If we perform an internal assessment of your pelvic floor muscle, you will be asked to undress from the waist down and will be given a drape to maintain your modesty.
how long are appointments?
Initial evaluations are 90 minutes and will likely allow time for treatment. Follow-up visits are 30, 45 or 60 minutes. Your practitioner will advise you when booking your follow-up appointments.
DO i need a referraL?
Colorado is a direct access state, which means that you do not need a referral from your doctor. However, at Apto Physical Therapy we enjoy coordinating care with your medical team.
DO you accept insurance?
We provide physical therapy on a “fee at time of service” basis and are considered out-of-network for physical therapy. Services provided at Apto Physical Therapy do go towards your out-of-network benefits. Upon request, we will provide with a superbill (invoice), which you may submit to your insurance company for reimbursement after treatment. With high-deductible plans, receiving out-of-network care may be more affordable than opting to see an in-network provider. Check with your individual policy and benefits for more details.
Unfortunately, insurance regulations and restrictions often dictate the amount of time and types of treatment that are covered. By opting to be an out-of-network provider, we are able to provide individualized treatment that will lead to quicker recovery with less visits.
Please contact us with any additional questions.

What type of payment do you accept?

What type of appointment should i book?
Book an initial evaluation if you’re a new patient.

Book a 45 minute follow-up if you wish to receive exercise progression and manual therapy of one area of the body.
Book a 30 minute dry needling session for dry needling only.
Do you provide pelvic floor treatment for males?
Yes! All people have a pelvic floor, and therefore all people can develop pelvic floor dysfunction. At Apto Physical Therapy, we are skilled and experienced in treatment of both male and female pelvic floor dysfunction.
Am i a candidate for dry needling?
If you are experiencing muscle pain related to myofascial trigger points, you may benefit from trigger point dry needling.
If you have a local skin lesion, local or system infection, local lymphedema, abnormal bleeding, compromised immune system, or vascular disease (including varicose veins), you are not a candidate for dry needling. Dry needling is withheld during the first trimester of pregnancy at Apto Physical Therapy, due to the increased risk of miscarriage during this time, even though there is no evidence that DN has any potential abortifacient effects.
I’m pregnant. When should i start pelvic PT?
We suggest starting your pelvic PT sessions at the beginning of your second trimester. If you’re not having any symptoms, we will follow up for a birth prep visit around 34-36 weeks gestation to prepare for labor and delivery. Treatments may be more frequent if you’re experiencing neck pain, low back pain, pelvic girdle pain, hip pain or urinary or bowel symptoms.
i’m on my period. Should i still come to my appointment?
Yes, you can still be treated during menses! Your comfort will always be taken into consideration at Apto, so you can always choose to forego internal pelvic floor work at any time.
How do I integrate functional nutrition into my plan of care?
Please indicate on your initial intake forms if you are interested in learning more about functional nutrition. Education and discussion surrounding functional nutrition can be discussed during all physical therapy appointments. Your provider can advise you on dietary and lifestyle considerations to ease symptoms, promote healing and optimize your health.
